The environmental consequences of rapid industrialisation have caused in limitless incidents of land, air and water resources sites being contaminated with toxic materials and other pollutants, threatening humans and environments with serious health risks. Additional wide-ranging and intensive use of materials and energy has created an increase pressures on the quality of local, regional, and global ecosystems. This training course is to provide an orientation to the methods applied to control and prevent environmental pollution. The fundament principles followed for eradicating negative impacts on the quality of water, air, or land will be introduced. Applying methods and technologies to reduce pollution, minimise adverse effects, and ensure that environmental quality standards are achieved.
Contamination can come in many forms - Some examples of contamination are ground and surface water, land, air, radioactive, food, noise, moulds, odour, construction, vibration, etc. and consistently, if these contaminants are not appropriately dealt with, will result in pollution and certain situations serious health problems. This 5 – day training course will give details on the various types of contaminants and the new frontiers in eliminating or minimising these contaminants, the use of effective non-hazardous products in a particular company, and environmentally acceptable disposal methods for both hazardous and non-hazardous wastes.
Upon successful completion of this course, the participants will be able to:
- Learn the various types of contamination and which ones are more relevant to the company
- Encourage and facilitate negotiation with like-minded individuals on specific contamination issues of concern in the organisations and the opportunity to develop regional networks to address common concerns
- Learn the relevant environmental agreements dealing with contamination and pollution
- Acquire how to prioritise contamination problems in dealing with contamination and waste management issues in a rational sequence
- Illustrate and emphasise the close relationship between human health and the environment that’s been directly affected by contamination
- Discussion of the latest procedures for the clean-up of contaminated soil, ground, and surface water, air pollution, construction materials and radioactive materials
This ETC Integrated Pollution Prevention and Control training course will combine presentations with instructor-guided interactive discussions between participants relating to their interests. Practical exercises, video material and case studies aiming at stimulating these discussions and providing maximum benefit to the participants will support the formal presentation sessions. Above all, this will make extensive use of case examples and case studies of issues he has been personally involved in.
In sending the participants to this training course, the organisation will gain the following benefits:
- The organisation, based on the training received by its employees at the course, will have less cause for concern of actual or latent contamination problems at the plant, and this frequently results in improved productivity
- Addressing real or possible contamination problems from the company’s operations, the whole audit management process (system audits, process audits, review audits, surveillance audits, re-registration audits, etc.) will be made easier and less stressful
- If contamination should occur, reduced clean-up costs for the organisation identifying the contamination issues are fully addressed and managed
- Improved reputation of the organisation in the community knowing that there will not be any surprise contamination issues that could derail the organisation’s image
- An improved image of the organisation with the Regulatory Authorities
In attending this training course, individual participants will enhance the following skills:
- Personal satisfaction of the employee knowing that the organisation is providing the necessary information required to minimize and/or manage workplace contamination
- Risk Reduction knowledge will provide lasting benefits both personally and professionally
- Safer workplace environment
- Personal pride in being an employee of an organization that’s fully committed to addressing and managing real or potential contamination issues
- Personal pride in being part of an organization that’s committed to protecting the environment and preventing pollution
