The nuclear energy technologies and safety systems ensure proper operating conditions are achieved, accidents are prevented, or their consequences mitigated, thus, protecting workers, the public and the environment from radiation and other hazards in the workplace. The most relevant safety principle in a nuclear reactor facility is the reactor's ability to shut down safely and adequate cooling to mitigate accidents. While locating the plant, plant conditions must conform to appropriate principles such as internationally accepted health, safety, and radiation protection.
This interactive training course discusses the key technical concepts of nuclear power plant safety, the main components of a nuclear power plant and the various safety systems are described and discussed. It includes the fundamentals of nuclear power generation, past nuclear accidents, potential impacts on both personnel and the public, and emergency response provisions. It will be a comprehensive “core skills” course that includes safe operation techniques.
By the end of this training course, the participants will be able to:
The delegates on this training course will receive a thorough training utilising a variety of proven adult learning teaching and facilitation techniques includes lecture and discussion, Presentation (PPT), Roleplay, Quizzes, Using of videotapes, Workshop, and Practical Examples.
The organisation will benefit as the following:
Increased level of awareness towards HSE concepts inculcates a Health & Safety culture within the personal and organisational scale, which impacts productivity and performance with reduced risks levels.
The delegates will gain a deeper understanding and awareness of nuclear safety aspects to advance their career.
This training course is beneficial for early-career professionals in the nuclear industry. It can also be used as a refresher training course for experienced practitioners and engineers, and scientists in other disciplines wishing to start their career and enter the nuclear industry.
This training course is suitable to a wide range of professionals but will greatly benefit:
DAY ONE: SAFETY PRINCIPLES OF NUCLEAR ENERGY
DAY TWO: NUCLEAR POWER PLANT SAFETY
DAY THREE: DESIGN AND MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
DAY FOUR: EMERGENCY RESPONSE
DAY FIVE: FIRE SAFETY
The Energy Training Centre Certificate of Completion will be given to the participants who
attended and completed the training course.
