Adopting Environmentally Friendly Business Practices
According to the man who runs the world’s biggest money management firm. Blackrock manages nearly $9tn (£6.6tn) of pension and investments.
Being green is not black and white.
This week (w.e.29.01.2021) the chief executive Larry Fink sent his annual letter to the bosses of the companies around the world in which that colossal sum is invested. He said the Covid-19 pandemic had focused minds on the fragility of the global economic system and made people think about a potentially bigger crisis. He said –
“I believe that the pandemic has presented such an existential crisis – such a stark reminder of our fragility – that it has driven us to confront the global threat of climate change more forcefully and to consider how, like the pandemic, it will alter our lives.”
When the boss of the world’s biggest investor speaks, those company bosses listen. He wants them to explain how they are going to get to net zero over the coming decades.
The question that we are left with is simple.
How is your organisation going to achieve net zero?
The answer is far from simple, but perhaps the contents of our course “ Certificate in World Class Business Sustainability, Adopting Environmentally Friendly Business Practices” may provide some direction, strategies, and international best practice to focus your efforts.
As the process accelerates, Public and Private organisations with a well formulated long-term strategy, and a clear plan to net zero, will distinguish themselves by inspiring confidence that they can navigate this global transformation. By adopting sustainable practices, companies can gain competitive edge, increase their market share, and boost shareholder value. What is more, the growing demand for ‘green’ products has created major new markets in which sharp-eyed eco-entrepreneurs are reaping rewards.
However, organisations that are not quickly preparing themselves will see their businesses and valuations suffer, as these same stakeholders lose confidence that those companies can adapt their business models to the dramatic changes that are coming.
The Certificate in World Class Business Sustainability introduces the strategies and tools that companies can use to translate an aspiration for sustainability into practical, effective solutions. The focus will be on practical applications from within business in a global setting with Case Studies from around the world.
